I agree, justice needs to be served, in the form of a trial. However, this happened in America, and as such is highly unlikely to be published in Australian news. Also, this is completely different from the Charlie Hedboattacks. Charlie Hedbo is a newspaper, which published anti-religious satire. To attack the journalists is a direct "fuck you, don't write about my religion like that", which is in itself an attempt to prevent free speech. These murders were a crusade against individuals of religion.

Consider the Sydney Seige, an event far more relevant as a gauge of Australia's approach towards Islam. Man Monis, even though he tried to present an ISIL flag in the shop window, was described as a "lone gunman". The Prime Minister, for all his faults, described it as a terrible crime, but refused to consider Islam as the motive for the attacks, rather, describing him as a "disturbed individual". #illridewithyou was born out of unity for an Australia which included islamic citizens.

Rest in peace Deah Barakat, Yusor Mohammed and Razan Abu Saleh.

Let's wait until we can confirm the motivation for the crime.

The fact that a three Muslims were killed by a non-Muslim (and vice versa) is not enough evidence to suggest this is a hate crime.

The incidents you mentioned above were attributed to Islamic extremism, and the perpetrators were very open about this. That was the whole point.

If we find that the Chapel Hill Shooting is related to Islamophobia, then yes, then it is worth discussing the implications of the murder.
