Hello everyone!

Which one of Econometrics, Economics and Accounting has the best job prospects. Given that the person looking for all is sufficiently interested in all three field?

Which one of them also goes well with the Business Analytics major? or will help becoming a Business analyst or some sort of data scientist?

Also, which one has best job prospects if there is no intention of doing Honours,Masters,PhD etc..

Thanks in advanced!!

To answer this, you're better off searching up Business Analyst roles and seeing what they ask for. If many roles ask for strong accounting knowledge (which I doubt) then do accounting, if they ask for very strong quantitative analysis then econometrics would be best, etc.

Just go on seek at look up the jobs you're interested in as the descriptions will often have a basic idea of what is required. Additionally, go on linkedin and search for people with these roles and check out their background (degree, previous jobs etc) as this should give you a better understanding than asking some kids on BoS.

What do you mean? (Sorry I don't know what a harvard business review is)
well that or another article that is based of the HBR that is going on about the importance of data scientists in the near future

There have been quite a number of articles in different papers that emphasise the importance of data scientists (both now and in the future).

Thank you for you response, I was thinking Accounting would not be that relevant. It seems that most Business Analyst roles require some experience and don't mention degrees. I'm doing the Business Analytics major and I know of someone who did Accounting with it and apparently they worked well together so I just thought maybe Accounting. I'm already doing a math major, is that enough for the quantitative analysis? I also want to know of Economics, apparently it's useless and too theoretical at USYD and you can't do anything with it??

Yeah, I've doing that. however I found a wide variety from Economics ranging to HR. I came down to these three fields after it all. So I just wanted to know which of these three has the best market for jobs and how applicable they are. Thank you very much for advice though :)

I would assume a math major in Stats would be good enough for the quantitative side of things. I believe it would be a nice compliment for the business analytics major but I think they will likely crossover so it might not be as good if you want to diversify. Nonetheless, maths (non-stats math specialisations too) and commerce is a valuable combination. Many people regard accounting as the most stable major so it could be useful if you don't manage to find a BA role. I don't think Economics is a 'useless' major but it is probably less stable without honours. But if you are looking for a BA/statistics job, having a knowledge of economics might make you look good to employers. Anyhow, don't take my opinion definitively. This is all based on what I have read and heard from others. If you trust Wikipedia, it states that there isn't a concrete path to becoming a BA so I guess that any business-y major major + some experience will do. I would suggest you to email the Business and Maths faculties (and maybe the careers centre?) to see what they have to say. Also, have you considered Business Information Systems?
Thankyou so much for your answer. I'm thinking of doing Math and Comp Sci double major with my Science degree. Where can Economics+Mathematics major take me?, is better than doing Economics on its own, or will it help getting into Analyst positions. or
how about Econometrics + Mathematics?, I couldn't find much for Econometrics and how the market is. Are the skills in Econometrics really useful? I have seen Business Information Systems, however I feel like Comp Sci would be better for me as I enjoy programming and did reasonably well in all the comp sci units I've taken with less effort.
