Man it looks amazing. Not a fan of the gold colour but it's interesting to see how they've applied their colour scheme to the Macbook.

Only problem is... I don't really need another computer.

I also wonder how a single USB-C will catch on as the new all in one plug covering accessories, displays, etc...

My bad it's not called Macbook Air... must've been dreaming when I was working last night and realised I was awake when they were making the announcement live. Price seems reasonable at $1800 for a 12" thin ultrabook with retina display.

Only major concern to me is the USB 3 plug. Might be too soon - even for Apple.

It's a premium laptop. It's not like it's outlandish. Come to think of it, I remember spending around $1800 on my original white plastic Macbook. Maybe that's how Apple intend to position this device in their lineup against the cheaper Air and more expensive Pro.

I actually think Apple did quite well with their gold coloured devices - not too bold or bright; and quite subtle in the colour. And yes I have a gold iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5S; but I reverted back to silver for the 6.

If you're a student just buy a Macbook Air. Its cheaper, more practical has a larger battery and higher specs.
This is just for people who want to have every latest apple device for no particular reason.

You can't even connect a USB while charging it since it charges using the USB port.

Was 100% keen on buying this up until it was actually announced yesterday.
Was expecting $1600, but $1800+$120 adaptor is very much pushing it for a device on which I can't physically play LoL (can't use mouse charger keyboard and monitor together). And not only that, they've cut the education discount on it- 4%/$80 off and no $100 gift card what a joke.

It's using Intel Core M so it is definitely not gaming spec. Performance should be better on the Air anyway. Time will tell if a single USB C port is sufficient- who knows, if it becomes industry standard maybe there will be docking stations in more locations and one won't need to carry a charger anyway. Let's also not forget Bluetooth becomes more significant.

It'd basically an iPad with a bigger screen and keyboard attached running Mac OS. Dont waste your money on this.

I think it just looks absolutely stunning but with the single USB C port, it's probably not too useful for me. That, and Core M. Would be better off buying an Air with the new specs.

Funnily enough my juniors at work are already contemplating using some of their bonuses to buy the products launched by Apple this week lol.

I disagree- there are a few items which are reasonable. I thought the 11" Macbook Air for under $1k was a decent proposition for casual laptop users who needed something more than an Atom-based netbook. I even bought a few of them as gifts.

There are hundreds of devices that have better specs than a macbook air and with a much lower price point than $1k.
