What could be some possible key ideas, examiners might ask for in an exam in the creative writing section? Past Belonging questions include:

a. i would really like to live with someone i love.
b. i had never belonged and never would belong.
c. no one is ever going to lock me in or out again.
d. one world had been left behind, another entered.

Something like option d)? It seems more discovery-like than the other three.

They could throw anything at you, sometimes even the pictures they use can be quite ambiguous.

To answer any question for creative you need to make sure that you do make the focal point of your story all the concepts of discovery.

e.g. show that discoveries lead to new perspectives of self and others.

So if we took example (a) you could be asked this even though it was primarily 'belonging' it's just your job to make it focused around discovery. So maybe, the story for (a) would be about a person who 'discovers' that the person they were with (wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, etc) wasn't who they loved and thus they develop a changed perspective of how they view them.

It was only through looking at the past, that I could see where to go in the future.
