Anyone else been following the news on Apple's WWDC 2015?

Summary articles:

OS X 10.11 El Capitan
http://www.macrumors.com/2015/06/08/osx-el-capitan-compatible-macs/

iOS 9
http://www.macrumors.com/2015/06/08/ios-9-tidbits-and-hidden-features/

Apple Watch OS2
http://www.macrumors.com/2015/06/08/apple-announces-watchos2/

Details of full presentation incl video link: http://www.macrumors.com/2015/06/08/apple-shares-full-wwdc-keynote-video/

I personally am most interested in iOS 9 on iPad Air 2 to see how Apple implements split view and how fluid it is, and of course Apple Watch OS 2 which will have native app support.

Very underwhelming imo.

Just catching up to industry standards.

I don't know if it's catching up to industry standards as much as it's adopting some of the better ideas (e.g. Samsung's low power mode) and making it into a standard for itself.

That being said I agree it wasn't amazeballs especially with no new hardware but the watch SDK is a big question mark as to how well it will take off. The other changes are all welcome nonetheless. Will also be interesting to see how Mac OS X fends off Win 10.

Samsung might be introducing these things, but they are adopted across Android devices very quickly (aside from all the fiddly features which seem to disappear in a following model). I've had the power saving feature on my HTC for over two years.

Apple used to be the reinventor of tech and software, suing companies etc etc

now it feels like THEY are copying and stealing ideas, Apple watch (Moto 360 and Samsung gear), Apple music (spotify), double screen compatabilities

we've all seen this before

I got el capitan and ios 9 for ipad air 2.

El capitan took a lot longer to deal with than ios 9. I made a bootable usb for it and put it on 2 computers (mba and mbp).

I've already found some bugs in el capitan.

ios 9 was much easier to install. Much quicker. Some of the functionality took me a while to figure out, eg., how to get 2 apps up is really easy - but how to change the apps you have up took me a while to figure out. There is a tiny tab on the top of the second app. I didn't even notice it at first. But that tiny tab is really important! Pull it down and that lets you change the second app. Really simple - but this is new so I'm not used to it.

Gonna have to get use to the new native typeface in El Capitan. It's good to see improvement in performance to OS X like preview. Other than that its nothing too big.

I watched the Keynote live this morning and how Federighi went over the split screen capabilities, my mind was like "man that came out for Windows 7 six years ago!" haha.

I think split screen is something which is a bit difficult to say whether it's a good or a bad thing given the single-task-focus of iOS devices which has led it to being quite amazing for productivity and helping minimise distractions when you are doing something. That being said there have been a few times when having multiple windows open simultaneously would've definitely been helpful and it's something I find I use a lot when I'm on a proper PC rather than my iPad.

I also found that on my Galaxy Tab S, the split screen functionality is so limited as it only works in a few apps, and the screen isn't that big, that it actually isn't all that useful.

Split screen could be handy if they developers figure out how to integrate apps for this system.

For example, if the screen region for an app decreases to a certain percentage (e.g. 30%), then the UI might change to facilitate ease-of-use. It feels like this would be the only approach to use, especially for smaller iOS devices.

I didn't watch the video yet but read the snippets - iPad Pro sounds good but doesn't really meet any of my needs especially as I have a similar form factor device (my Surface 3). iPhone 6S sounds interesting but I'll do my best to avoid buying a new iPhone this year since I feel like I buy one every year (well I do).

The Apple TV however interests me especially if it has games support and also works with my MFI controllers :D New remote looks nice. I currently use my ATV a lot for Netflix so this could be awesome.
