Re: Confessions

None MUST be correct. I was inclined to say only C is correct, but then I noticed, what about casual work?

Inconclusive data; just chuck it through a bunch of if statements in your head.

The question is supposed to be written:

"Employees can be Part-time or Full-time. Part-time employees do not work in the New York office. Based on the information above, which of these statements MUST be true?"

That would be too obvious. They want you to infer

Re: Confessions

Kiraken, (who did the UMAT), said C
Just work it out by boolean logic. You will get the answer. This isn't UMAT. This is information technology.

Edit: i could be wrong but if i am deloitte needs to step up their game

Re: Confessions

All the answers are dodgy but process of elimination would yield C

No symbols or anything of the sort required here.

If they are part time, then they do not work in NY office.

Contrapositive: If they work in NY office, they are not part time.

Since "None" is not an option, then we can only assume that "Not part time = Full time"

So the answer is C.

I don't think there's any ambiguity to it. You can't simultaneously be a full time and part time employee, and as per the question part time employees do not work in NY.

If there is some case where an employee can be simultaneously ft and pt it would be beyond the scope of the question and not change the fact that one answer is more correct than the others. The way some of the answers are phrased supports this assumed mutual exclusivity too.

We don't know for sure if there are other offices OR what the mix of employees at the other offices is, so A and E are definitely not valid. We don't have the facts to conclude it is true.

As full time/part time are mutually exclusive (as you can't be both simultaneously) B and D are incorrect. But B would be the first to go if using a process of elimination though.

The remainder, C, satisfies both the (partially assumed) mutual exclusivity AND the facts in the question.

Edit: Didn't notice E lol.
