Ok, so I want to know what do students in selective schools talk about during recess and lunch or in free time in general. What I mean is, do you talk about future tests, or movies, video games etc. The reason I ask this is that many students at non selective schools think it is the environment that makes the difference and in selective schools there is a different environment. In a way the students have a greater general focus in studies.

well I went to a top 5 selective school and honestly lo and behold we didn't really ever talk about studies that much aside from when it was close to examination blocks

I think when they say "environment" they are looking closer at the education environment; the classroom environment rather than recess and lunch.

Overall, take out the label of schools from students and you realise, everyone is a teenager. And everyone goes through their phases of talking about boys/girls, ranting, stressing about exams together, talking about going out or parties etc etc.

Since my boyfriend came from a selective school, I thought the whole marijuana and drinking at parties excluded selective school students, and then I find out its a pretty common occurrence and a lot of students are just high/drunk or hungover from a party before, during and after school. The only difference is that they have a stronger performance in education because of the tough, strict and challenging school environment.

No different to any student

They just study harder and some are smarter

Think about what they high achievers at your school talk about and then compare it to other students. That should answer your question.

Well I'm first in maths 1st~2nd in maths and in top 10 in English. However, my school is regional and ranked around 200. Still I talk about video games, movies etc with my friends. The reason for the question was is there something in those schools that helps students achieve that is not present in other schools.
