My school was ranked 281 in 2013

My rankings from prelim are as follows:
Legal Studies - Rank 4/20
Business Studies - Rank 70/80
Modern History - Rank 45/50
Mathematics - Rank 25/42
PDHPE - Rank 10/50
Advanced English - Rank 80/90

My atar aim is above 80 is this possible with my ranking taking into consideration my school rank as well?

u don't need an estimate yet then, u will get smarter and improve ur ranks. Prelim ranks are nothing, the system reset, every1 is currently 1st, maintain it and u can get 99.95 (srs)

Nah it doesn't man, everything resets when you start Year 12, so you start from scratch and now you work your ass off whilst staying consistent and on top of your work, because you can get behind really quickly and your class wont stop for you.

Having said that, for any year 10's or early year 11's reading this, best to start working your ass off now, because it will make it much easier to secure the first spot once the HSC year starts.

Couldn't agree with you more, it's those early study habits which will be your saviour! With the falling behind in class part, I'm taking from personal experience, and for a subject like maths, it's difficult to learn certain concepts without a teacher.

Also, astroman said this to me back when I was in like year 10 or something, 'start hsc prep now', I now fully understand why he would say that since that was something I should of paid more attention to, it really would of made a difference to the way I would be approaching my studies now.

So folks, the message cannot get more complicated then this: 'Start HSC prep now!'
