should I get a separate book to handwrite answers to past paper question or can I just do them on the computer.

If you have a computer in the exam then do it on the computer, otherwise hand write.

get a separate book, and do them in there, good practice.
A lecture pad/notepad where you remove the pages from the top/side, is actually better for mathematics , just make sure you have a stapler.

It should be a separate book and make practice on daily basis ,However, do be sure that your writing is neat!
