Perk is a word you don’t see being associated much when it comes to college. What in the world could possibly hold any kind of benefit in being a college student? Reading a lot of books till you get bored to death? Preparing for your finals?

Not even close, but once you stick around with this article; you’ll get your answer. No, we’re not pulling your leg; there are indeed some real goodies to being a college student. To get to the point, simply get an eyeful of the following as it will get you to be more open about your new life at college.

1. Cool gifts

While college may be expensive, it also comes with interesting gifts as well. In this case, nothing wreaks of cool more than a complimentary iPad. No, you didn’t hear us wrong, as some schools such as Illinois Tech and Long Island University do indeed hand them out to their fresh batch of students.

As a matter of fact, there are other schools that basically hand out laptops to their students as well. Since it is the era of computers, you have to move with time and progress.

2. You’re your own person

You are finally out of your parents’ shed and into a world of your own. This means that no one can stop you from eating too much pizza or sipping on too much coffee. However, there are still codes of decency that you need to follow. But other than that, there are no holds that can bar you away.

3. The magic of discounts

How are you going to get by knowing your tuition and textbook fees are as high as the moon? One of the best answers to that is student discounts. You can seriously save up on your books, the cafeteria, magazines and transportation.

Student Advantage is perhaps the largest student discount program, which offers discounts from train tickets to online shopping.

4. You become an Amazon Student

If being able to use about 6 months of Amazon Prime’s services isn’t awesome, you need to wake up. This is one of the better perks available for college students that offer two days of shipping. What’s more is that you can have access to thousands of songs and stream any video of your choosing.

Imagine having to binge-watch your favorite shows in high-quality as soon as your classes are over.

5. Tuition refund insurance

There is an option for tuition refund insurance, but it can only be granted to those who are Smart Option Loan borrowers for a company known as Sallie Mae. They provide up to $5,000 of refund insurance. It really is a considerable offer that virtually no one can refuse.

6. Special discounts on computers

As if college wasn’t taking a huge munch out of your wallet, getting a laptop can leave just as many holes. However, giants like Microsoft, Apple, HP and Dell are offering discounts for students. They’re even throwing in an additional complimentary gift which could be an iPod or an Xbox. Sounds like a great deal!

7. Travel on a budget

Take heed of those nasty expenses and save up on your green. If you’re considering vacationing for your winter, spring or summer break; don’t forget about your student discount. If you like, you can look up to Student Universe, a website that will provide you with all the desired costs for hotels, airfare etc.

8. Keep your classified documents to yourself

One of the most important things you need to prepare yourself for is the possibility of an identity theft. Your classified documents are too precious to be picked up. So it’s best to keep them in a place where you know the location and keys of. Some schools like the Iona College offer identity theft protection.

Worst list ever.

Most of them were about saving money, however college is the ABSOLUTE WORST place to save money. I don't even need to argue this.

#2 is completely false. People who don't go to college are in general 10 times more independent than college students because they go into the real world, while college students are stuck in the education system for > 3 years. And eating as much pizza as you want, really ? How old are you ?

#8 Yes. You go to college for identity theft protection. Brilliant.
