So
Atar calculators are incredibly shit. Getting a range from 91-96
(Min Talent 100, Max http://hsc.atarcalc.com/, middle Matrix(95))

Just curious as to what my atar would be given some HSC marks
(havent got ranks yet)

English Adv. 80
Physics 90
Chemistry 90
Extension 1 math (2 units) 80
Extenstion 2 math (2 units) 80

I dont think you need my school rank given those HSC marks
(they are NOT my marks for school , Im just curious as to what atar that will result to )

Thanks (was being sarcastic about the 4U scaling lmao)
Also, how exactly do you use information about the number of band 6's per subject to estimate atar

Does a 90 HSC mark mean a band 6?
80 HSC mark band 5? etc.

90 hsc mark in 2 unit subjects means band 6 but in extension subjects it is an e4 (3u and 4u in your case)

So I can simply go to my academic advisor and say:

Hey, how many people get a band 5 in 4u/3u maths and english
How many people get a band 6 in phys/chem

and then If i achieve those ranks a high 94 will be a solid estimate?

Most school dont disclose these marks. You can check the no of band 6's at topscores.info
also ext subs dont have band 5..its e1,e2,e3,e4

Sorry for Ext1/2 maths i meant e4
My school does. I can actually get an atar estimate from school for each year and average it with like the past 10 years

So assuming my school discloses, can i just do what I mentioned

"So I can simply go to my academic advisor, say
Hey, how many people get a e3/B5 in 4u/3u maths and english --> Is E3 equiv to 80??
How many people get a band 6 in phys/chem"

yes and figure out what range you sit in in terms of your ranks and estimate your hsc mark for the subject

Alright, so for all my subjects, almost everyone gets a band 5 or an e3 at my school
Im not in that bottom x% that dont get above B5 , E3

I AM in the range for a B6 in phys/chem

Assuming ranks stay the same, and my externals correspond to my internal ranks (correspond to previous years rank vs external)
Am I on track for a 94+ atar?

Yea my academic advisor will be given my ranks, he/she will map it to previous years HSC mark
I will be given a minimum of 80 for all subjects, 90 for phys/chem

Unless scaling changes drastically or my school rank plummets randomly, or I fk up externals, any other reason why I wouldn't get the 94?
(assuming nothing drastic happens)
