Engineering+ Maths Dual Degree at UNSW or USYD? (1 Viewer)

Title. Also for engineering students, what majors did you do, would you recommend them?

but usyd advanced maths is really good, as good or better than unsw

in b4 shadowdude says 'nah unsw > usyd in maths'

unsw is definitely better for engo though

i definitely prefer the location, campus and social environment of usyd however

USYD really gets into some of the more formal and rigorous stuff faster compared to other universities in the region. From what I've seen of Macquarie and UNSW, they have a slightly higher emphasis on the practical and computational. I can't speak for second and third year stuff though, but USYD does have a strong reputation for its pure mathematics.

Not sure anyone can really give you an answer to this unless they've been to both unis for maths or eng. You'll have to keep in mind most people answering have probably only been to one uni and can only speak about that uni.

UNSW is known for its engineering. So that suggests they're good at it and teaching it. Just check out the degrees they offer, they offer such a wide variety of eng degrees compared to USYD.

I go to UNSW, so obviously I liked UNSW campus and location better than USYD.

i do stats at usyd, but all my friends who do pure have always said its really great and super rigorous (as others have mentioned here)

the fact UNSW average mark for an average subject is 70 as per their site

usyd is 65

inflation is a loose term here that i made up, but taken from america where they have GPA inflation. lots of schools giving out higher grades over time

UNSW has like 2 or 3 pure maths honours students and gave out 1 medal.

USYD has like 10 pure maths honours students and gave out 2 medals.

Seems like you guys give out a higher percentage?
