Pretty much everybody in my year goes to Dr Du. I see his homework booklets all the time in English class and in the library. So I guess he must be doing something right.

I haven't been to Dr Du before, so I can't say anything about them. However, if you live near Fairfield/Parramatta, you may consider going to Ngo & Sons. They teach extension 1 mathematics really well :)

In my opinion, i dont think Dr Du is worth it if you dont consider your self strong at independent learning and learning at a fast rate with minimal chances for questions or personalized help. The main reason people go to Dr Du is to compete with other people from high ranking selective schools and to make sure you are at their level. Its also worth going if you think you arent being challenged enough by your school and want tougher questions/want to accelerate ahead of your school. If you think this does not sound like its for you i think private tutoring is your best bet.

Same my maths and science faculty was really iffy about it bc people blatantly take out their Dr Du homework in class and work on that instead of paying attention

Hey! I graduated high school this year and was a du student (A2 yr 11, A3 yr 12) and I want to say that du isnt the type of thing for everyone. For me, it magically helped me from failing a year 11 3u test to almost getting full marks in the hsc, yes, it is really useful if you are 'mathematically talented' and willing to put in hours of hard work doing their hw, however I kind of ignored my schools math work (we used mif) and teachers will hate you for it. Thing to say is tho, if you cant get into the As, there really is no point going. Try your best in the entrance test note i got 67 and was placed A2, i heard roughly 40-50 is A3 so good luck :)

Definitely worth it 100% only If you pay close attention and do the homework, if you're planning to be lazy and take the homework and store it don't bother. Good luck

tbh it seems like most comments abt dr du ive seen on this forum seem to have a love-hate relationship with the tutoring style. im a pretty low achiever in nsg - mainly because of the vague teaching style from my maths teacher - so i was thinking of going to kurt since i saw some comments saying kurts better for the "dumb" category of students due to the hellish teaching routine but yk i need motivation ig 😭 and i do better under extreme pressure generally. So maybe dr du is a good decision after i get my grades up? like moving from kurt to dr du once i see results. But really, is going to dr du as a low achiever really not worth it? ty

Hi There, have you started Kurt or still in Dr Du. How you are finding Kurt. Looks like you are in Year 8, does it mean if you were in Dr Du, you were doing accelerated course in Dr Du. Dr Du only does from year 9 but allows Year 8 to do Year 9 if pass the entrance test. Can I get some information from you. Thanks.

Hey there! Im taking private tutoring right now, but from what I know of dr du for yr 8, yes you're right you can enroll for year 8 with year 9 material if you pass the entrance exam. There are four classes - B, A3, A2, and A1 from lowest to highest in level for each grade. Im pretty sure you need minimum 50-60% accuracy on a test to get into the lowest class (B) or if you get better you'll be sorted into a higher class according to your mark (sorry, i dont know the exact accuracy range for A classes). Its pretty easy to move up classes - you just need to get good quiz and test results over a term. You'll get a chance to move up/down every term. Vice versa, if you do ass on your exams you might have to move down. Overall a neat system but I can't tell you much about the teaching material! thanks for reaching out but i haven't actually gone to dr du but my friends have told me plenty about it - they get really high grades but then again they are hard-working and motivated so make sure not to rely on tuition for grades! ty
