Hi, so I'm currently in year 12, and am currently stuck on my UAC choices. My top choice right now is the engineering and biomedical dual degree at UNSW, but I'm not sure which specialisation I should choose (currently tossing up between chemical, computer, mechanical, and software). Since the biomedical industry in Australia isn't that big yet, there is a chance that I may not get a job in the biomedical industry, so I also need to consider the demand for jobs when choosing a specialisation. For my other options, I'm not sure whether to choose a biomedical degree or something more general e.g. software, mechanical etc.

My main questions are:
  • Which unis are best for engineering? (so far I've been hearing that UNSW and UTS are good)
  • Which specialisation would be best paired with biomedical, which I would still be likely to get a job with if I can't get a biomedical job?
  • For my other choices, should I choose degrees that specifically specialise in biomedical only (e.g. biomedical degree at USYD), or choose other degrees (e.g. software, mechanical, etc.)?

If it helps, the subjects I am currently doing are Maths Ext 1, English Advanced, Business Studies, Physics, and Japanese Continuers

If your really unsure you can do a flexible first year
