Compromise. You have thrown away everything and this is after trials, u wake up realising there is a shuffle in your daily life and u get to choose ur “loadout” for the the externals. Your base knowledge remains the same throughout.

Come last in all subjects at James Ruse, or come 1st in almost all subjects let’s say 8/10 units at a top 200 school?

What does like the lowest guy get in like JR or t10’s in general?

Coming last in JR in everything would probably get you an Atar in the 60s or 70s but first in everything in a 200+ school you could do better imo.

There’s always outliers at the lower end of every school, just that they might be in the 60s and 70s in JR (just based on academic ability to do SOMETHING in the hsc) rather than the * and 30s you’ll see in lower ranked schools.

It doesn’t work like this: JR ATARs > Baulko ATARs > Fort St ATARs, where the bottom of James ruse outperform the top of Baulko etc.

First at 200+ for sure. Despite school rank you are still coming first. You may get a few marks down but still pretty high where as coming last in James Ruse yeah you're done for because the school has such high expectations and they are all super smart. 😂

Lol, this isn’t a fair comparison. JR usually has <5 people hard dropkicking for no reason, I.e. doing no homework. We have to take into account that the dude who’s coming first is trying hard af. Also, there’s a lot of variance in the top 200.
But this comment section is shitting way too hard on James ruse. A 60 or 70 for the last rank is not a regular annual occurrence. On any given year lowest should still likely be 80 Or maybe 90 in a good year. A 250 selective score is no joke.

Nah, it's probs the people who get in in yr 6, then dropkick for no reason. Applying for a transfer means you're trying.
i read some where that lacking ruse kids get kicked out, so id assume its who ever comes in later is worse than existing students.

lol no, public schools don't have the authority to kick people out. It's only the ability to "recommend people to leave" that exists, or to make people repeat.

I reckon it's either some guy that hit all time low-depression, something happened in their life or got in Year 6 then became that 1 bludger of the grade. It can't be a transfer, usually transfers are kinda smart, and have the motivation to study as mentioned by idkkdi.

1. Sydney boys has enrolments biased towards local people.
2. Sydney boys has imports for sports.
3. Difference in between ranks for the top 10 is pretty big especially with James Ruses success rate being far and above every other school.
4. James ruse is crap at sports so distractions are minimised.

IMO your ATAR is somewhat based on your social-economic statues and your parents education.

Can we get this data on other schools?
No, UAC doesn't release the ATARs of students. The Sydney Boys one was done by estimation; some schools have it because students show them to their school. For most schools they don't have access to the ATAR data.

NO schools have access to ATAR data - usually they can find out in the form of an “exit survey” or they can just ask the students. Schools are given all marks by NESA so it shouldn’t be too hard to estimate ATARs based on that. Pretty sure they get more info on your papers (where you achieved marks) as my teachers found that certain topics had worse marks.
