That's arguable. If you're the only motivated student, you will be the only one asking questions and the teacher will spend more time with you, compared to a competitive school where you can more easily get left out.
That's true but it's more complex than if x then y. You could be the only motivated student and want help from teachers but your school environment is crap and teachers spend more class time settling down students than teaching. And alternatively you could be at a competitive school where the environment is good and pushes you to learn independently and so the getting left out part sorta balances out or you're in the position that you don't need to ask. But yeah ultimately it's just up to the person and how hard they're willing to work
