My multimodal question for the eng adv common module is;

"Our experiences are defined by a tension between a yearning to belong and a desire for freedom.
Evaluate the extent to which your prescribed and related texts support this statement"

My prescribed text is Merchant of Venice and my related text I chose was The Judgement by Franz Kafka.

I am thinking of a response which disagrees with the statement, what are your thoughts on writing my script in disagreement with the statement? Should I do it? And what would the ramifications of that mean for me.

Thanks!

you can definitely disagree w this, it doesn't really matter if you disagree or agree. you can make any judgement, but you need to have strong points + textual evidence to back it up.
I don't think there are any ramifications however disagreeing w the statement won't give you more marks, always pick whichever side you think will allow you to have the best argument.

How so are you disagreeing with the statement? Usually, I would advise against disagreeing with the stimulus statement (particularly in an exam, looks like you pre-prepared an essay and couldn't adapt it) but since this is a hand-in I think you have more leeway.

However, I am still concerned that you disagreeing with the statement could come across as just writing an essay that isn't related to the question; the only take on the question I can see is that our experiences are not defined the tension between belonging and freedom, but rather the tension between <insert themes>. Partially agreeing with the statement (texts focus on belonging or freedom) might be ok, but I really think as a general rule of thumb, agreeing is the best way to go.

(side note: the top multimodal advice I give to people is to put equal efforts into your video component/presentation as the essay, esp. if your task is a video essay. you will easily gain or lose 2 marks based on the quality of your presentation)
