I'm just curious to what it is because I'm fairly familiar to how people apply to American and British universities. I still have a while to go, and I would just like to know how it is to apply to a Canadian University, specially Toronto. Can someone please just tell me how it is like to apply entry for the following: a medical degree, bachelor of science, bachelor of commerce and/or actuary and/or computer science.

Ik Canadian schools don't have the essay requirements (unliked the US) so I think you just apply with your results. Might need to go through an agent so if you're applying to UK and US as well, you might as well ask your agent to do a quick app to Canada.

Also on another note - you've put down all the "prestigious" degrees from a big variety of fields. This is fine imo if you're staying in Australia (very easy to swap and change) but if you make the (especially financial) commitment to study overseas you would want to make the right choice for yourself. In the next 2 years, try to narrow down what you actually want to do and strive for that :)

Also another thing to keep in mind is professional accreditation if you want to come back to Australia. With things like med, commerce(accounting), and actuarial, you will need to make sure that you can bring your qualification back to Aus with ease. e.g. You wouldn't be able to get an Aus medical internship (required for registration) so you would need to become some sort of specialist in Canada, then you can come back with specialist registration to practise in Aus. Another (made up example) a Canadian accounting degree might not meet CAANZ requirements here, so you would have to do a Canada charter and apply for reciprocal acknowledgement here once you're done.

By the way, if you're thinking of actuarial science then Waterloo is the place to be.

Are you a dual citizen? That may change a few things since you'd have family to stay with? and might be able to access cheaper tuition fees.

Those degrees are just ones I have in mind, I have no idea what I really am gonna do lol. Even Civil Engineering is on my mind but that's not what I really care too much about. I'm just curious :)

Also hypothetically if I do want to Canada, I'm confident I won't come back so will that effect anything too much? Also no, I'm not a dual citizen so I guess I won't be able to get cheaper fees haha

Also, any particular reason why Toronto? It can get down to minus 30 degrees there.

Just also be aware that your plan to "not come back" might not be feasible because of visa and work rights.

I really don't mind the weather, and I'm not even certain I'm going it's just an option I'm curious at. Also quickoats, why isn't it possible to move because I've seen many move to America after Year 12 settle down. Is it different in Canada. Does it help my closest family friends live there?

Easy to move overseas for uni because of a student visa but once you graduate you will need a different type of visa to stay there. Depending on your field of work, you might/may not be able to get a working visa.

Based on your knowledge which of the following degrees I mentioned before can get a working visa fairly easily?

Not sure :) do a little research, but I wouldn't decide my career based on what *may* give me the best chance at working in Canada (if you are not a Canadian citizen). If you get picked up by a company over there they may be able to sponsor you.

Where's a good place to research? And what do you mean by sponsor me I'm not familiar with that?

Google :)))

Countries don't want aliens (yes you are technically an alien if you are a non-citizen in the country without a visa) to stay without a valid reason. This is why you need to get a working visa (your right to work and stay in that country) once your student visa expires. A company can sponsor your visa (giving you a legal job) i.e. giving you a valid reason to stay.

Australian resource but I'd assume it'd be very similar to other countries with tight-ish restrictions like Canada. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/vis...one/sponsoring-workers/learn-about-sponsoring

Yes we all dream of living in an overseas country but the logistics are very complicated i.e. you can't just buy a one-way flight and start your life in a new country - lots of legal stuff involved.

I love how people outside of Australia are dying to come here but people who are here are yearning to leave

drdusk is not your average australian. he does physics. enough said.
True, the average Australian loves to have a cold one (drdusk said he doesn't drink what a lamo) and drives a holden.

The physics megalord probably rolls around in a Tesla

I’m a sucker for things that taste good. Alcohol tastes like crap.
