hey guys!

i posted about this just before my holidays ended but i needed some more assistance. i’m doing 12 units right now

- eng adv
- ext 1 and 2
- standard math
- sac
- bio
- visual arts

i like all my subjects except for art. it sucks. it makes me sad since i’ve always had a knack for art and always did well in it in primary years. i don’t want a profession in art so it’s not a prerequisite but i chose it as a subject because i enjoyed the artmaking process and thought it would be a good break from my other writing subjects. thing is my teacher sucks- she can’t teach very well. class is so boring i really don’t enjoy going and completely zone out. i don’t really like my idea for my major work either so-

i went and spoke to another teacher - who is a hsc marker and said that i had potential and i shouldnt drop. i’m super conflicted and don’t know what to do. my teacher isn’t giving me any support and isn’t even helping me in deciding whether or not i should drop.

i’m also worried since ext eng 2 major works are really notorious for having different internal and external marking so i’m worried eng might backfire on me :((

what mostly is stopping me is that i’m doing well in class. my last assessment- i got a 95% i’m worried that if i drop them im potentially bringing my atar down since i could do better in art

i haven’t started my major work yet cuz i know that if i do, i’ll get attached and won’t be able to drop

pls help guys :((

thankyou!!

Its hard, but I really think dropping Art would be the best option. You don't seem as passionate about the subject (not the discipline) and even if your teacher says you have "potential" theres no point if your not actually enjoying it as you expected to when you first picked the subject. Plus you mentioned that art won't be a prereq or recommended study for uni?

In saying that, by dropping Art, you will have more time to use it for other heavier subjects, like ext eng 2 per say.

These are my personal opinions :)
