Damm nice, was that a state rank in English?
Sadly not I had the mark for the state rank but didn't get it, so narrowly missed out. Still burnt by that haha cause I ended up seeing on someone else tutoring post later they got like 13th in state with 97 in that same hsc year

Who knows, the difference between 99.50 and 99.95 is very small and honestly down to how you perform on the day. Don't overthink it - anything is possible with hard work and a little bit of luck
.5 and .95 seems like a bit of a stretch for very small.
that's a difference of 20 in aggregate score.

For HSC final marks I got somewhere around this (can't remember exactly because been like 5 years but they shouldn't be off by more than 1-2):

Adv English - 97
Adv Maths - 98
Ext 1 Maths - 48 (this is out of 50 as I only did it 1 unit and didn't do ext 2 where then it would be 96/100)
Physics - 94
Chemistry - 94
Business studies - 94

As said in that other post though although these are very high marks and I was still happy with them, I underperformed in the HSC vs throughout the year and the 3 trial examinations my school had, so should've got higher if I had not messed up, but that's what happens in HSC sometimes.

Trial and exam marks throughout year:
Adv English - usually somewhere around mid 90% (rank 1)
Adv Maths - 98-99/100 (rank 1)
Ext 1 Maths - 65-68/70 (rank 3)
Physics - 92-93/100 (rank 1)
Business studies - 95-97/100 (rank 1)
Chemistry - 98-99/100 (rank 1)
Wow. Thats impressive. Good shit

It def is possible to do so but 4u is a bit OP, or at least it used to be in old syllabus. The scaling was absolutely ridiculous and it definitely improves your chances of a higher ATAR. For me, my ATAR would be ruined if I haven't done 4u. But thats me and I'm very one-sided academically. Good at maths, trash at English lol.

I am a bit worried cause the people from my school that got a 99.95 mainly did maths extension 2. This is coming from a top selective school. Also does anyone know whether bio would scale higher than modern?

I don't think you should be worried about scaling if you are aiming for a 99.95, since you need to get extremely high for all your subjects for that mark, and scaling pretty much wears off at the 90+ end. Also, don't worry if you didn't pick 4u maths since I know people who got 99.95 without maths at all but with subjects like Eng X1 and Music Extension, granted that they aced every subject tho.

Yeah good point, the scaling for marks between 94-95 and 98-99 is very minimal meaning that there is not much of an aggregate difference between say 99.60 and 99.95.

Yeah there is really only one scenario that scaling is useful for someone aiming for 99.95, its when you are like 98+ in 8 units and the last 2 units maybe weaker at around 94 in which mx2 will save you because of its scaling. If you are around 94 in more than 2 units you probably cant get a 99.95.

Yeah a 94 in 4u scales nearly as good as a 98 in 2u which is a bit ridiculous. Other subjects have to be at least 95+ with one or two being at like 97-98 range to improve chances. Getting a 95 in all subjects will probs get you to a 99.80-99.85 but not a .95.
