Okay, so we've just had our first internal Chemistry exam today (first term of year 12 - term 4 year 11) and I am very unhappy. Due to COVID restrictions, the cohort was not able to have their exams all at once (e.g. in the hall), so we did the exam in our respective periods that we had (some had it in periods 3, 4 and some in 5,6). I think I did alright, however, teachers say not to discuss answers with the other class until their exam is also finished (obviously), but some dumb idiots literally just told every single person who had their exams later the questions in the exam. So us guys who had our exams in periods 3 and 4 were seriously disadvantaged to those who had them in periods 5 and 6. THEY KNEW THE ENTIRE EXAM BEFORE THEY EVEN DID IT. It makes me so mad that this sets our starting ranking for the HSC course and now just because of this, my ranking could be so bad. Anyways, that's about it I guess.

happens more often than u think happened several times during my hsc year although only once out of all the subjects i did

report it IMMEDIATELY

ik a lot of people who refuse to report things like this until after results come out and then the deputies dismiss it bc it's "been too much time since the exams were conducted"

btw don't let this get to u bc there's nothing u can do abt it now

yea can confirm, its more prevalent than you think but people don't even report because they're afraid they'll be singled out so they just wait on it and when they muster up courage to do so its already too late.

Yep I will try talking to the Chem head teacher and see what goes down. But what exactly would they do? I feel like just because its an internal exam, they'll be like "it is out of our control to regulate students sharing answers after the exam"

if they do get away with it u just gotta move on

hey lad, i hate to break it to you but

These things happen. The only thing you can do is smash out your remaining assessments atm.
If you do alright, it should be fine mate

Come to think of it If I were you I wouldn't snitch. Why? Teachers won't do anything tbh. Not like they're gonna remake and make the entire cohort redo the exam. You might just lose some friends or mates in the process instead. However, you could bring this in light to your teacher that people can cheat like this so it can be prevented in future assessments (they probs know this could occur/occurs anyways). Just use this as motivation to grind.

If you know the whole cohort is not going to be doing the exam at the same time, and your cohort is likely to do this, this is the kind of thing you should raise with higher powers well before the actual exam day.

The sad thing is they probs know this can occur but, they don't bother. Ik my teacher was aware of this lol.

this stuff happens ALL the time, happened to me in Year 12 as well for phys. Report it, if that doesn't work then move on, you got 3 terms to lift yourself you just can't call yourself defeated now (big mistake I did during my own HSC i gave up on a particular subject and the situation just went even worse) so please just keep trying till the end no matter what happens

Ayo guys guess what. Just had my physics exam today, and the exact same shit happened, except it was worse. Our physics exam was online (on laptop; but at school) as they prepared the exam to be for online learning, but schools opened earlier. So some idiots screenshotted the entire test paper and sent the later classes basically the entire exam. Nice. I love my luck.

It sucks, I'm sure everyone reading this can relate to this because this is such a common experience.

It is what it is. You could report it anonymously, which is what my friends hypothesized but you must have the evidence to back it up so taking screenshots would be a good idea. If you can't, you most likely have to report publicly, then its just your word vs their word and its really up to you if you're bothered with dealing with a cohort. You wouldn't be snitching unless they're your friends or you made deals with them etc. so no guilt there.

There's really no practical solution, both ways going to suck so its just up to and what you're feeling is going to benefit you the most. Personally I dont care if other people cheat, if they're that desperate then so be it - they're setting themselves up for failure for the HSC external exams anyways. The best thing, in my opinion, you can do now is just focus on yourself and outdo yourself.
