I'm currently interested in becoming a meteorologist and I'm wondering what the best (sydney) uni is for it...

I think UoW (Wollongong) and USYD have degrees relating to meteorology (from a quick online search), but I'm not 100% sure on if it entails the field of meteorology itself or not.

Expanding on UoW's Bachelor of Science (Atmospheric Science), this degree features multiple areas of study, including:
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Climate Science
  • Meteorology
  • Chemistry
  • Earth and environmental science
As one of the seemingly few universities that offer a Bachelor's degree with a direct focus on meteorology, UoW seems like a good option.

A seemingly more complex (I say more complex because the following path involves further study beyond a Bachelor's degree), yet effective alternative is USyd's Bachelor of Science/Master of Mathematical Sciences. This program enables students to undertake foundation studies in the sciences and advanced study in mathematical sciences, including specialist project work. Completion of this program will give access to a range of career opportunities, including:
  • Bioinformatician
  • Data Scientist
  • Meteorologist
  • Statistician
  • Teacher

I hope this helps! :D

All really good info here.
Another way to view it is to search the Job-Seeking websites for a meteorologist role, and look at the degree requirements and that can also shed light on what businesses are looking for. You might find it opens doors at other universities.
If there are no local meteorologist jobs, expand the search nation-wide and you should be able to match equivalent degrees with whats offered to you locally.
