Hi can someone explain dilutions effect on degree of ionisation (and why degree of inisation will increase)? Im not sure which one is right

1. Degree of ionisation increases because concentration of all aqueous species increases and thus side with more aqueous moles is favoured
or
2. Degree of ionisation will increase in the general weak acid equilibrium, since through dilution and by LCP, the system will shift towards the right to counteract the change (adding water increased concentration of water on the LHS) and thus the degree of ionisation increases to a greater extent

Both of these are correct in the HSC. I have used both in tests and they have been marked correctly, though, it is odd saying "concentration of water increases" (it's more the concentration of water molecules relative to other molecules that increases, but saying the latter is understood by markers) which is why towards my HSC I adopted option 1 and answered dilution-ionisation questions that way.
