Have you run into any trouble with partial fractions?

- I guess when reverse chain rule is possible or you think a u-substitution might work
- When the degree of the numerator is greater than the degree in the denominator # maybe you might use partial fractions later on after long division

Generally speaking, if you have a division of polynomials and the polynomial in the denominator can be fully factorised into linear and/or irreducible quadratic factors (i.e the quadratic doesn’t have real solutions) then partial fractions would the first thing you consider trying. Anything else that does not look like that would likely require another approach at first.
