❗❗❗ edit: for more accurate curves please check Vall's message below and open his excel file ❗❗❗

hey ! i was just wasting some time and messing around with the raw marks database trying to figure out what i would get and decided to put some good old maths adv skills to the test and make some line of best fit equations.

i thought i would leave them here if anyone wanted them, just plug your raw mark into x:
(i only used from 2019 onwards so it would be more accurate to the current syllabus only)

eng adv: y= 41.71 + 0.58x

maths adv: y= 43.34 + 0.59x

maths standard: 42.68 + 0.57x

maths ext1: 49.39 + 0.53x

maths ext2: 51.57 + 0.51x

chem: y= 46.85 + 0.53x

bio: y= 44.28 + 0.59x

physics: 61.91 + 0.37x

modern hist: 41.49 + 0.59x

eco: 41.99 + 0.57x

business: 37.70 + 0.63x

lmk if you want any other subjects, i have too much time on my hands these days lmfao ^^

Maths Extension 1 and 2 as well pls lol.
Query: also not sure but is alignment a linear process. I kinda doubt it since beyond the e4 cut off marks get less aligned (after all 3u courses are out of a 100)?

I believe alignment is piecewise linear. The raw band cut-offs are determined by judgement and all the marks in-between the cut-offs are determined by interpolation.

hi, i'll try and do them asap!
and yep, i'm pretty sure it's not strictly linear, but it seems like they only begin to flatten out a bit at the very top end, and steeper at the very bottom. so for general interpolation (60s-90s) it should be fine to use these equations! if you're estimating that you'll be getting 90+, it might be better to go onto the database website yourself and look specifically at the top end marks : ))

i think there might be ways that u can build curves out of data in excel as well

I will have full excel graphs as soon as I can make them (<30 minutes hopefully)
pls lmk if you're making graphs for everything! you can take over this thread if you're providing them for all the subjects : )
