Yes, he is a very very good tutor. I used to be the worse student at Terry Lee to be honest. And I find I can keep up with the pace - I'm not particularly shit or anything, I'm just not as super as the top end guys.
If you're willing to put aside the "stigma" of asking questions, you're good to go. Most of the Terry Lee students struggle because they DON'T ask questions. In all honesty those lesser able students are very capable, they just get stuck every once in a while and are too embarassed to ask him for help.
3 hours/class may seem long, but since it's a very fast paced class, it goes by pretty quick - I find it an extremely good environment to work in because it forces you to learn and apply everything immediately. Also good for sorting out what you do and don't know very quickly, cuts the crap and gets you help earlier. Getting the basics for the first 30 mins of the class is important especially for the harder concepts later on in the class.
You normally get 2 breaks/class so you do get a breather (can play table tennis during the 10-15 min break).
In terms of his teaching, he is to the point. He doesn't give you the "introductory" crap that school teachers give you, he goes straight into it. Very concise, knows his stuff extremely well, and teaches you quick and simple methods. He also gets his point across effectively, he can explain everything and anything in logical terms.
Also teaches things that are very relevant to the HSC, knows where you can afford to skip steps and where you can't.
He checks your work thoroughly to make sure you know what you're doing, attentive to every student in the class.
If you're planning to accelerate, make sure you're up to the standard.
If you can't hack 7 hours in one go, you can split it up, he runs the same yr 12 level courses on saturdays and sundays, so you can go 3u on one day, 4u on the other. Prelim maths is on Friday I think.
