Yeah at my school no one really tries when their in standard so yeah less competitionpersonally i couldn’t crack above a 16 in advanced but could top my cohort for standard… the texts are way easier and the expectations / competition is usually lower

Yes, the structure for a discursive text is generally flexible. It COULD discuss two or more perspectives, but it could just look at one perspective. The reason why some people say to show two perspectives is because by doing so, it's less likely to sound like a persuasive piece, but it is very possible to show one perspective, but not have the piece influence the audience's judgement. But it definitely can (and should) use imagery to engage the audience, and it can be a blend of facts and storytelling, so you're crossing paths with persuasive/informative and imaginative.
