My english & business teachers were such harsh markers they have half marks like plsssssss <333. From what I've been told in the HSC it ain't that deep and markers just tryna finish a paper and get the bag. Its usually a loss of half a mark or even 1.5 marks for like a 4-5 marker because my analysis was not deep enough or something to the question/text. but I always put enough quotes/techniques

What matters for your final HSC mark is your rank, not the actual mark you get for your internals. Your 'internal' mark you get in the HSC is actually not that percentage, but it is a mark determined by how well your cohort does in the HSC. This helps to mitigate exam/marking differences between different schools. As an example, if you rank 5th internally, you will receive the 5th highest HSC exam mark of your cohort, for your internals mark. So say the top 5 marks your cohort achieves in the HSC exam (in order) are 94, 93, 91, 87, and 85. In this example, your mark for internals would be 85. Your examination mark however you keep - it is whatever you actually score in the exam.

With that being said, while quotes and techniques are important, they NEED to be used to supplement your analysis. Your response means nothing without analysis - you're just chucking a bunch of useless quotes and techniques out without explaining them. Your quotes and techniques must prove something - a point, a concept, they have to have a reason to be there. Maybe ask your teachers if they can mark some practise responses of yours prior to your next exam, and give you more detailed feedback on how you can improve? You really don't want to bank your hope on the fact your HSC marker will be busy and trying to "get the bag". While they might be trying to quickly get through a paper, they do also have to be accurate (e.g. an 18/20 is marked the same across 2 separate markers), or they could be locked out of the marking system (random checks are done to ensure fair marking is the case).

I hope this helps, good luck with your studies!

My analysis is good. I think my teachers just expect more quantity from me. Right now I just link everything back to the question. Legit after every point haha.

linking things back to the question is great and all, but you may need to go a bit more in-depth if you really want to be hitting those full marks. and if they expect more quantity, then you know what to do! unfortunately in a lot of exams they expect you to write beyond the given lines (if it's that part of the exam, and you don't have miniscule writing), so working up to that standard is a good idea.

hsc marks tend to look to award you marks, whereas at least in trials the teachers more of look for where to remove marks.

also in regard to ur last sentence, adding more quotes or mentioning more techniques will not strengthen your analysis of a text. using quotes and identifying techniques is a skill youre already expected to have, so what markers want is analysis. you need to identify what the impact of the technique was eg; the use of truncated sentences potrays a sense of panic and fear in the character, being so severely traumatised that they cant produce more than short remarks'' . you then also need to talk about the effect on the audience, eg "The use of polysyndeton and the elongated sentence creates a deliberately awkward long run on-sentence, overwhelming the reader and evoking discomfort and confusion, simulating the experience of sensory overload". then link to topic sentence/thesis
