Should I change Business Studies to Biology? (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone, I'm at the end of year 10. I kind of fooled around in year 10 English (despise the subject) and forced to do English Standard (NSW). I go to a really shit school The subjects I'm doing are:
Math Adv
English Standard (ES)
Business Studies (BS)
Software Engineering (SE)
Chemistry
Investigating Science (IS)

I received the list of the subjects I got. I've got a friend who is considering changing SE to Economics while I want to change SE to Economics. I enjoyed Commerce and think Economics could further expand my love for business. So I'm most likely going to change SE to Economics.

The more conflicted matter is changing BS to Bio. I'd like to work either in medicine, law, business/economics, or software/IT. HUGE stretch but most likely not going to happen. Otherwise I could do 2 sciences (chem, bio) and Inves, leaving BS but I'd rather keep BS. Is BS worth keeping over Bio?

I'm really concerned with the workload being too much to comprehend and understand. Any thoughts?

1. Are you good at science (A's and B's throughout)
2. Is bio a prerequisite for medicine (since your options are broad i suggest not worrying about prerequisites, you can always do a bridging course in uni)

1. I have a consistent about 85% throughout yr 7-10, give or take a few. I'm worried about chem and intend to do tutoring for that.
2. I've checked many degrees and courses from various universities but some don't provide any prerequisites but do provide "assumed knowledge" requirements (couldn't find a better word)
3. Investigating science is a science but it's seen moreso as a useless science or science that supports you with the other sciences, according to teachers and friends who do accelerated investigating science.

This is a 7yr double degree of B. Science and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Sydney.

I'm not too sure what I want to do so I'm trying to make my options as broad as possible to appeal to many courses. I'm considering doing law but that seems like a far possibility, especially with English standard.

I'm mostly concerned with the overwhelming workload and wondering if I can cope with it. I know for a fact I'll enjoy Business Studies far more than Bio but kinda concerned about the whole "assume knowledge" bs.

yes investigating science is a science (hence the name lol) but it’s more of a collation of different sciences and like the other person said, it’s recommended to use in addition to other science subjects.

3. Investigating science is a science but it's seen moreso as a useless science or science that supports you with the other sciences, according to teachers and friends who do accelerated investigating science.

i wouldn’t say it’s useless but yeah from what i’ve heard it’s definitely useful in supporting your other sciences. i’ve heard from friends who did multiple sciences that they knew things before others did in either class because they had learnt it in either the ‘main’ science class first or in investigating first. the people at the top of my investigating class were the ones doing other sciences too

I see you did investigating science. How did it go? Was it particularly easy or did you help with understanding concepts from other subjects e.g. legal studies.

it was one of my worst subjects tbh. i felt that the topics were quite organised compared to what i’ve seen in other subjects like biology, like we’d do one thing and the next day it’s completely different. but tbh, that may be because i had a terrible teacher that left late in the year and we got a new inexperienced teacher. but ive heard from others who had different teachers that they felt the same way about the modules. nothing was particularly hard, theres just a lot yk. and legal studies did come in handy with module 8 i think it was? idk, one of the later modules. but nothing that useful.
