it's not that deep... being referred to as 'them' happens to everyone, (cis men, cis women, trans men, trans women, and gender diverse people) because it's a nuance of how the english language works

i think quokka was just trying to be respectful, not everyone reads your profile fully and to know what pronouns to use most people look at under 'gender'
