  • Well yes, it is a gaming laptop definitely but it can still do all the basic functions of school/uni work.

=D Anyway for Alienware you can still use an external DVD/CD drive which is like $30 and games from DVDs can be saved on the hard drive for later. But the N61 is a great unit as well.
Alienward M15x is great though price wise it's like bordering 3k so it's pretty expensive. M11x might be a better option (~1.5k) but the screen is small.

My desktop is 16GB RAM, 2TB ..yeah I'll stop there. That's why.
Exactly! Their RAM and graphics are top-tier, excellent for multitasking. Also, they look epic.

Probably around 2k for those ones and you can get a good Core i7 with ~3GHz and 8GB ram. Don't go over 2k since you'll end up with a REALLY heavy laptop and fail batteries.
Lol, no point just wait for the big one!

Get an Alienware laptop, those are awesome! Or any high end Toshiba/Asus would do.
Ah well, it's either one of them so a card upgrade would be preferable anyway.

So what's your no. 1 laptop gonna be then?
Yes it is, that's I think either 128MB or 256MB, you should check which one.

Are you sure? I saw it and the screen is like 10", don't think it's cut out for gaming.
Right click on My Comp, then select properties. Select the hardware tab then click on device manager. Choose Display Adapters and right click on the cards you see to select properties. That should do it.

    Wait, isn't the NB300 a netbook?
Go to Control Panel and double click on System if you use icons. If you have the menu type thing, there should be a performance button to click on. You can check your DirectX directly from CP as well; they should be a seperate icon for it.

Urgh, I haven't used XP in ages (dig around that is) so I may be wrong.

    Anyway brand/comp in mind?
The RAM's a bit low but I've seen 512MB run 2GB req. games before so it's possible but that's a big maybe.

Your video and sound, go to control panel and check your computer specs, they should be there.

And I'm pretty sure most computers already have DirectX 9.0c installed anyway; even if you don't have it, chances are you'll be prompted to download it by the game (link provided)

I dunno, when are you gonna get your new one soon?
LOL good to know your scholarship is going to good use! =P

What's the min requirements? And what are you specs? It depends, especially on the RAM and graphics card.
    :O Moniez for upgrade?

Anyway, you could always run it in low graphics/quality. I know a guy who ran COD smoothly with 512MB RAM so it could work.
Well not irritating to the point where I want to kill myself but the good kind of irritating...if that exists.
I'm sure you'll perform exponentially well. (maths joke Ahhahahaa...i've spent too much time on maths this holidays, sry =( )
Heyy shadow, i remember you posting a link for a university forum. You said that it was similar to BOS except it's for uni students (i rem seeing students posting comments about their uni). Do you still have that link? Because i would like to look at it again

    Thanks.
