  • Exactly, so no budget yet!

And aha. That's why. Well, I'll be getting that later. The Compaq seems to be working good for now... though I just drained the battery of the Toshiba (as one does when they get a new laptop). I turned it on at what... 2pm or so - and it just died about ten minutes ago <_<

I don't think I'll have any problems with battery life at uni!
Budget? Later, when I have income to use it for =P

But no I got no Alienware... yet. I'm getting the Asus, remember?
I should be able to control my spending... yes. Should.

And yes - it is a netbook, the Toshiba one. Or you mean the Alienware one? But I think I'm fine with uhh... Windows 7 Starter.
    Yeah, my money.

But yes - I has my Toshiba now. It's... smaller than I thought it would be - but it seems it'll go fine. I just have to put AVG and OpenOffice on it along with Firefox Portable... and then we win!
I shall get it... later! After my mum says yes =P

And true. But the forum I'm on is an alliance forum for an online game... so yeah. Not exactly screaming with activity 24/7. It has a good amount of activity in general though. A few hundred posts a day.
No, to Asus because it was referred to be better =P

And yeah... well, most people on that forum are American so I have to wait overnight to see what the majority of them say. Most of 'em will be logging on soon and reading the topic and contributing.
I don't like the Asus in that it has a number pad on it... it'd probably look weird. Alienware thing looks awesome =(

But yeah, I'm not registering there... I think the people on the other internet forum are knowledgeable enough anyway. And I would, but I'd look stupid =P
Netbook is cheaper. As I said, I'm not bringing my #1 laptop to university - because it's a laptop and I need to be near a powerpoint always. And netbooks have no CD drives.

Whirlpool... I'd have to register, right?

And I know it's gonna crash soon - it already did: twice. =)
I was doing work on the netbook - the Toshiba thing, yes. I'd do transfers via USB.

But the Asus had more memory, and a higher processing speed. So... yeah. Any general computing forums you know of? I might ask.

And it kinda works because it gets a bit slow sometimes for no reason at all. And the 'N' key has faded away and my 'M' is losing its 'M' as well. So my bottom row is: Z X C V B __ M. =P
I was persuaded to get the Asus due to better specs on another internet forum - though the Alienware looks awesome. I wanted the all-round thing anyway because it's uni and I'd have to do wok on it =P

But yes, it's a very old laptop I have! Still works though. Kinda.
Well, considering the Asus N61 is $1500 and the Alienware is $1300... maybe it would be better. Besides, it looks awesome from what I see.

What do you think I should get?

I've settled on my NB300 for the netbook I'll use for commutes to university... it's just what I'll use as a replacement for my current Compaq Presario V5000 =P
11 inch screen isn't that bad, sly. I'm liking this Alienware M11x thing... though it looks like more of a gaming laptop rather than a desktop PC replacer.

And ah I see. New one - so that's why =P

I'm liking the Asus N61 right now... though the Alienware looks great - but it doesn't have a CD thing as far as I can gather.
So your cousin has the Asus N61... okay. And what Alienware ones should I get?! I'm not sure...

And still using a desktop? Ohhh... I converted about three years ago =P
Ah okay... any links to suggested ones?

And so I'll get a laptop with Core i7, 3GHz, 8GB RAM and not to spend more than 2k... okay! I'll read some reviews on things like that and see what I can get. Unless you have any ideas.
Alienware... how are they awesome? I just heard they run superfast and are good for gaming.

But how much would these "high end" Toshiba/Asus ones be? I figure I should save some of that 4k to pay off some HECS debt.
I think any upgrade would be good =P

My no. 1 laptop... I haven't decided yet. Any suggestions? I want something as functional as a PC, which includes game functionality!
I'm not sure how to check that... sorry, I'm noob =P

And yeah, it's not cut out for gaming because it's for my use at university taking notes. I'm not bringing my #1 laptop to uni... especially since I'm gonna commute for well over an hour. Since I'm getting the 4k, I'll get a new laptop for gaming and general stuff and also get this cheap netbook for uni study. It should be good for general typing and web surfing for times between lectures when I'll hang out in the library and take a desk somewhere.
The Display Adapter entry is: ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 Series. Is that.... it?

And the NB300 is a netbook/laptop... I saw it listed as a netbook and a laptop!
There's no Performance button in System, unfortunately... and there's no DirectX on the Control Panel =(

For me, I'm thinking of getting the Toshiba NB300. It seems nice enough.
Uhh not sure where to find computer specs... help for a computer noob please? =P

Anyways, I may be getting the new one soon. Like this weekend soon. I should probably use it a bit so it won't be very weird when I use it at uni...
