HSC - How much time are you spending studying?

Ok this is kind of a basic question, but I want to know how much time everyone is allocating to studying for the HSC. This applies to new HSCers (class of 2025) and graduates when you did your HSC. What is sustainable? Also, what subjects tend to take up disproportionate amounts of time?

    3 to 7?! That's crazy

How not to be burnt out

Honestly I'm feeling it too, but I think it's because there have been so many expectations leading up to Yr 12. When you actually think about it, the work isn't all that different from Yr 11. I think it just takes some time to get used to

    HSC aligned mark estimate

You can consult the raw marks database which has some actual data for comparison, if that helps: https://rawmarks.info/ The alignment does change quite a bit each year, but your maths mark might scale to around mid-70s according to this

    Subject selection

Ahh I see. If you want to increase your maths marks for the final exams, doing more exercises and past papers might be a good idea. I'm sure you know that, though.

    Subject selection

Your school seems so strict! A lot of schools let you choose completely so surely you can negotiate with them? Your priority would be getting into adv maths and maybe even chem, if you want to do med.

    4U maths time commitment

Alright I'll take that into account. Thank you for your advice!

    4U maths time commitment

Yess that is quite true, but I feel like most uni subjects only need adv or ext 1 maths?? I should also mention my other problem, which is that I have 12 units (including 4U) and I'm not really planning on dropping any of them, so 4U just seems like extra effort sometimes.

    I dropped it :oldfrown:

    4U maths time commitment

We're starting with complex numbers, which doesn't seem too hard for the time being but is incredibly tedious. I'm more worried about the later topics. Yeah I did hear that people tend to fail the first assessment, but I just worry that to recover in the later terms it might take too much time...

    economics hsc

For year 11 at least, I don't think it's necessary. Personally, the Pearson Dixon/O'Mahony textbook gave me all the info and skills I needed, along with a bit of reading the news and Plain English Economics (I think someone posts a copy of that each time a new one comes out) to supplement it...

Hmm alright I'll see how I go with that, thanks

    4U maths time commitment

Most of my peers have already learned the content before so they can whiz through the exercises, but I've got to learn everything on the spot which slows me down. Of course, tutoring means more homework overall though.

    4U maths time commitment

I recently posted about 4U and I've decided to keep it for now, but now there's another problem. I'm only a few lessons in and I'm already overloaded with hw (3U and 4U). I'm a bit slow because I don't go to tutoring, but I'm spending hours after each lesson figuring out the content and doing...
