    Boiling points of alkanes/alkenes/alkynes

CM_tutor probably has a better explanation, but generally boiling point is proportional to molecular mass. This is because a greater molecular mass means greater dispersion forces since there is a greater likelihood for a temporary dipole to form. Alkanes have greater molecular mass compared to...

    permittivity and permeability

They aren't explicity in the syllabus, just know that they are constants used for different equations (i.e. force between two wires).
  6. Q

    Mod 6 multiple choice

B and C are acids so produce H+. This H+ reacts with chromate to produce more dichromate. A is a neutral salt so wont produce any H+ or OH-. However D is a basic salt so will produce OH- which reacts with H+ to form water. Since there is an increase in conc of H20 equilbrium shifts to the left...

    MX2 Integration Marathon

    Let u=\tan^{-1}\left(\frac{1+x^2\tan{(2\ln{x})}}{x^2}\right) From derivative calc: \frac{du}{dx}=\frac{4x^3\sec^2(2\ln x)-2x}{x^4\tan^2(2\ln x)+2x^2\tan(2\ln x)+x^4+1} \frac{du}{dx}=\frac{4x^3-2x\cos^2(2\ln x)}{x^4\sin^2(2\ln x)+2x^2\sin(2\ln x)\cos(2\ln x)+(x^4+1)\cos^2(2\ln x)}...

    Counting Question

I dont remember but it involved 12 steps instead of n steps.
  10. Q

    Does God exist?

My personal problem with Pascal's wager is that there is a 2x2 square for every religion. Every religion rejects every other religion and many of these religions have 'perks' of joining (going to heaven, enlightenment etc.). So really you are only in one 2x2 square out of millions.

    Mod 6

Lets say the salt is NaCH3COO note the salt has to be a weak acid or weak base. Now Na+ is a spectator ion whereas CH_3COO- goes through hydrolysis as shown below: CH3COO- +H2O ⇌ CH3COOH +OH- Since OH- is created the resultant solution will be slightly basic.
