Re: Semester 2 USYD Chatter Thread I've drafted out my guide to exchange studies and will post soon once I let more things pop into my mind. Can you guys list a few things you want me to cover so I know I have all my bases covered?

Re: Semester 2 USYD Chatter Thread For geography, they wanted it similar buy they approved one that I just said was similar and that was good enough for them. For chemistry, it needs to be at the right year level (eg CHEM 5XX for 3rd year).

    Environmental Studies

I'm almost finished with my environmental studies major and if you're interested in environmental policy, DO IT. However, even though you'll cover climate change policy and stuff in almost every class, you'll have to learn about other policies too.

    Coordinate covalent bond

You're actually wrong there - it's not "fluctuating". If you draw all the resonance structures, they all exist at once so the actual bonding is an overall average of all the possible resonance structures (some structures contribute more than others).

    Simple esterification question

Use a hotplate for everything. You'll find out that you never touch a Bunsen burner once you get past first year university chemistry. Way too many organic solvents are flammable and so the risk is very high when using a Bunsen burner.

    Chem acidic salt question

The acid+base thing is a really basic general rule referring to H+ and OH- which makes water and is only valid when in solution of water. It's more accurate to say that an acid is a proton donor and a base is a proton acceptor (water production isn't needed). In fact (beyond syllabus), acids are...
