Externals will make a significant difference so now you can figure out where you went wrong. Your ranks are finalised so don't think about them too much- it's all on you for externals Then using these weeks, get to know your analysis/ major points well and improve your weaknesses.

Does anyone feel that they need the presence of people doing work to actually do work effectively?

Also when you make up essays on the spot (with memorised analysis ofc), more than likely you address the question more as you are taking whatever you can from the question. So it might be subjectivity based on how well the essay fits with the question
