    Last year a 79% (83/105) was aligned to 90

Thinking of dropping to standard english

I have a copy of 2014 raw Hsc marks to aligned exam mark that I got from my friend (it's not dodgy and I've seen it pop up in a few other places) in any case it's pretty common knowledge the Standard scales lower than Advanced

Thinking of dropping to standard english

Don't listen to these guys! Drop Advanced! Follow your heart. LMAO JOKES DONT DROP PLEASE DEAR GOD DONT DROP DONT DO IT HOE I read somewhere that 1/500 people will get Band 6 for Standard. If you drop to Standard you are shooting yourself in the foot. Aligning or scaling or whatever it is, is...

    Starting HSC

    1. Exams aren't more difficult - standards have changed though so obviously you're expected to have higher quality answers than Year 11 (particularly for English). Competition may also be higher since more people take Year 12 seriously. Plus the content changes so even though you were doing well...

    Nominated Poems

Yeah my teacher said that even though they can, they're very unlikely to specify poems for any module because it's inherently unfair - even though we're meant to know each poem, some students are more prepared for certain ones than others are

    Biology or Ext English

In what way have you heard it's similar? Haha I and pretty much everyone I know who does 3u finds ext a far more difficult course than advanced. Advanced is very formulaic in terms of essay content and actual structure (ITEE will get you through any and every paragraph with your eyes closed)...

    2015 Global Leadership Entry Program?

Nice job congrats! :D we're doing the same thing haha twinsies

    Biology or Ext English

Which one would you enjoy doing more though, regardless of workload? I think that should be your main driving point Bio is definitely a lot of content so I would only suggest you do that if you find that kind of science interesting. Bio exams are mostly content based with some skills based...

I can't tell if my friend is joking about these threats

Wtf that's so dog of them Don't worry though you were only trying to do the right thing

6 days before HSC and I'm LOSING MOTIVATION HELP!

Only you can motivate yourself So think of goals? ambitions? What course do you wanna get into? How badly do you wanna get into it? What would happen if you don't get the ATAR (wasted time, transfers etc)? Just use that to motivate you to try your absolute hardest to smash it so you can...

Standard english raw mark for band 5?

I don't know about Standard but I know for Advanced last year a raw mark of 64 aligned to 80 (and 79 aligned to 90) so idk take what you can from that I reckon 75 sounds right, as previously said

Drop Business, Eng Ext 1 or French??

If you really wanna drop something I'd suggest Business studies purely because you hate it so much. Even though you're doing well it's not worth it- trust me, I was in the same boat as you last year with Biology (I was doing well but this was also me: "often sigh when seeing it on my timetable...

    Personality section

This is for history right? And yeah I guess so ... I mean it is essentially the same information you are using but there are obviously some differences. Part A is just a straight descriptive narrative (Trotsky was born... Trotsky did that... Trotsky joined this etc) whereas in Part B you must...

Business studies is killing me right now :̣̣( What should i do?

Hmmmm 1 week is plenty of time if you buckle down and actually work every minute With business it's very important to know your content well so I suggest investing this time into actually going through every syllabus dot point and making notes/learning the information This sounds like a lot of...

intro/Body Paragraph length for an ESSAY!!

Oh nice yeah that seems much more doable now :D and same I write slowly so I always write the bare minimum needed Good luck!

    Short Answer Dramas

Well these are common literary techniques you could use: Symbolism Juxtaposition Repetition Figurative language-metaphors, similes Tone (everything has a tone so this could be like a last resort) Imagery (but it's too basic by itself so tie it in with something else e.g. coastal imagery...

What is a related text for?

They're so students can show their depth of knowledge and understanding of the rubric by applying the concerns of the module (without a teacher feeding them ideas) into other texts (probably also to encourage wide reading). 2/4 modules will require you to find your own related texts: discovery...

Can they actually ask an essay question about rediscovery in the HSC

No way. The word childhood isn't even mentioned in the rubric so that's pretty dog if they do. And as said before that is sooo specific they'd effectively be nulllifying a large percentage of candidates
  19. C

intro/Body Paragraph length for an ESSAY!!

Yes it seems too much for an intro ---- what information are you including in it? I keep mine 100 or less which is what my teacher has told us to do You should always have paragraphs at relatively equal length otherwise you're not showing a balanced/good understanding of all your texts. I...
