    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive My life in a nutshell. Idk if you have noticed but some of the sample answers in the CSSA trial paper my teacher gave our class are literally too long for the shortest amount of lines on a 4-5 marker or the other way around lol

tbh, term 4 is relatively chill (many will vouch for this) the assessments aren't even that intense at first hand so it won't be as overwhelming contrary to what many fresh year 12s anticipate Next yr is where shit gets fked lol

As I said before, scaling is not determined by difficulty, it's the ability of the WHOLE cohort and how they perform. Take for example, MX2. Of course in an objective sense, it's the most conceptual subject that can be challenging and I'd say many students taking MX2 would have trouble doing the...

Yeah, I think you completely and utterly ignored my point, so I'll reiterate it again. No, scaling is not a measure of difficulty of the subject, but rather the strength of the cohort/competition. It has absolutely nothing to do with how hard X subject is in comparison to Y. Maths/sciences...

This is where the suggestion is flawed Because if you make maths count to your ATAR, that severely disadvantages those who aren't inclined at maths themselves. Think about it - the best scaling subjects are the maths and science and the crappy scaling subjects are things like visual arts, dance...

That's also true lol But remember that English is the sole benchmark for scaling and it makes sense, despite being a dodgy subject

Making maths compulsory is a reasonable thing to do ideally, but considering how poor our maths education is at the moment; especially with the shockingly poor syllabus and terrible quality of teachers; it's not the best idea to force students to do maths in year 11 and 12 yet.

oh yeh, true but as long as you understand what you're doing in maths, memorising formulas is probs not necessarily a bad thing haha

rote learning formulas (and maths in general) is the worst thing to do lol although it is helpful to memorise niche stuff for convenience to make the process more efficient Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
