    General Thoughts: Mathematics

I don't know why everyone was complaining about 16 c), it was rather straightforward, altogether this exam was far more easier in comparison to previous years imo

Statistics to help you guys estimate bands

Ok, so I have two things that could help you guys get a rough estimate as to whether you will be able to attain a band 6 for a particular subject: 1)Brettymaccs raw mark data base (will give you a rough idea of how some subjects align in the HSC): 2)Searchable file of distinguished...

WORRIED!!!! Will my Cohort Drag Me Down? Do I have hope? :(

Bro I know how you feel, for Biology I came 1st and 2nd in the half-yearly and the trials respectively, however due to retarded assessments that carried an abnormally high weighting and had ridiculous marking criteria I'm at 4/102 now when I believe I should be first, I do believe that I will be...
  9. TheOptimist

    Possible?

The size of your cohort for each subject is also needed, for instance being 3/150 is not the same as being 3/7 etc, it could make a big difference.
  10. TheOptimist

    Atar estimates???:]

No its the mere truth, those are pretty good ranks :), btw are you doing HSC this year or next year?, if your doing it next year you might want to remain complacent so as to not lose those good ranks, or even do better :)
  11. TheOptimist

    All Rounder?

Its near impossible to get a band 6 in English standard, try and see how many people got a band 6 last year for it in your school, so yes English is your only obstacle, apart from that, everything else seems good :) + you should be aiming for 93+/105 raw marks wise to get a band 6 for standard
  12. TheOptimist

    Band 6?

Here is a database showing you how raw marks were aligned in previous years, it should give you a good idea of what you need to get a band 6: Note: your internal mark/rank also plays a role in determining your band/mark.
  13. TheOptimist

Who's looking forward to math? :)

Hahahah, btw i don't think programmable watches are allowed in the exam room?
  14. TheOptimist

WORRIED!!!! Will my Cohort Drag Me Down? Do I have hope? :(

With that kind of attitude you deserve to be dragged down, perhaps you should have tried to help him/her rather than ridiculing their intellect, its one of those things you have to deal with if you go to a public school as there is weaker competitive mentality in comparison to a...
  15. TheOptimist

    ATAR estimate please~~

Bio and chem are going to pull you down, and it is near impossible to get a band 6 in standard english, however your doing well in your other subjects, I'd say 96/97 :)
  16. TheOptimist

    Is there still hope?

Put this into the calculator=(moderated assessment mark + aligned exam mark)/2
  17. TheOptimist

What would this shit internal english mark be moderated up to????????????

DW, she's just trolling around a bit, perhaps a reflection of her own disdain towards the exams, but imo that mark would probably be extremely high 70's, or low 80's.
  18. TheOptimist

    Is there still hope?

Thats why they are called estimates in their entirety, we cannot guarentee what ATAR one would acheive but rather the range in which their capabilities rest.
