Nah, you should be fine. Everyone's different. I'm not naturally smart or all that great at anything unless I try really really hard. You or anyone else on this site can probably get a 70-80% without studying/trying while I'll barely pass. Hence why I need to study and try harder than the...

Random (and perhaps slightly disgusting) thought, but I honestly have no time to shower anymore. Like, of course I will shower, but it's like I'd be better off without it in terms of self-imposed time constraints. :spin:

We have our last school photos this week. :( Gonna actually make an effort to look good, which is a step up from my indifference in past years (so yeah, HSC does change you :P)

How to maintain good ranks and shoot up for bad ones?

Hi everyone, I'm coming first in Legal Studies and English Extension 2. I intend on sustaining that rank until the end. It was also really funny to see how surprised the teachers and some of my classmates were. The teachers do have their "favourite" students, and everyone thought they were...

    No Idea on Uni Course

I like the idea of seeking input from a close friend. However, many of my friends think that I should become an author because I "like writing", know a lot of "sophisticated words" and have "ideas". That would honestly be so awesome if I become one, but much of it relies on chance. Another...

    2018ers Chit-Chat Thread

Hi! I suggest spending 20 - 35 minutes of your day working on your major work. Maybe 2 days a week. Don't estimate by how much you get done, but by the time taken to get whatever it is (can be little or a lot) done. That way, you're managing your time to adequately prepare for the half-yearlies...

Tips on how to prepare for the midterms

    * Random tip: Always have water with you while studying. It helps maintain focus, at least for me. * Play music when you find yourself losing focusing/edging onto procrastinate during revision. It has a weird effect of energizing me.

Tips on how to prepare for the midterms

True, but my teachers analyse and nitpick at pretty much every sentence, so the thought of seeking a second opinion never occurred to me. But good idea!

Tips on how to prepare for the midterms

For English, as I got some feedback for my essay today: * Seek feedback from your teachers, and remember there is no such thing as a perfect first draft! Even the top students have missing components in their essays (not enough q+t, lack of linking back to the thesis, insufficient analysis here...

Tips on how to prepare for the midterms

Hi everyone! I thought it might be helpful to make a thread where we can all share tips and tricks on how to prepare and revise for the upcoming midterms. Also, for balancing assignments + exam preparation. (I don't have any upcoming assignments, but some people do) What assignments and...

So insane! But I'm not nervous, or anxious. Or stressed. Instead, I force myself to feel grateful and it really helps! For example, I'm grateful that HSC is teaching me a lot about time management, waking up at 5am (on a 10 day streak with this), RESILIENCE (so important, but difficult...)...

To all those who went to selective high schools

Seriously, a history tutor in Year 9? I can understand getting a tutor for math, English, science, etc, but really HISTORY? All for the sake of one-upping you? Wow... You must've been really smart/amazing. Otherwise she wouldn't have targeted you like that.

    Marked down for "unbalanced composition"

Hi guys! I got 13/15 for my first English assessment task. My thesis and ideas were great, but they removed two marks due to one paragraph/argument being longer than the other. It doesn't say anything that goes against an "unbalanced composition" in the marking criteria. However, they placed...

FIRST BLOCK OF ASSIGNMENT RESULTS CAME BACK! Can I still achieve my ATAR goal?

Thanks everyone for the encouraging responses! :) Definitely soldiering on with a 98 ATAR goal. Our school rank last year was 279. The teachers blamed it on the cohort, as it was 133 the year before. Meh. Lack of interest, plus I'm more of a Shakespeare than an Archimedes haha.
