I'm more up to date and have less to cram, compared to this time back in Sem 1. However, I feel more nervous and underprepared for this semester's finals. Probably because the courses I'm doing this semester are much harder.

But I would only like to see matrices taught if enough time was then spent on areas which utilise interesting applications of matrices. Many HSC students imo will find matrices and some of its applications quite theoretical/conceptual, rather than real-world and applicable.

At the end of the day, communication skills is going to be something you will need in nearly all professions. Don't let it sway what you choose to do at university, as much as it seems to be affecting your decision. Instead, seek to improve and work on it on an ongoing basis, by joining...

Idk how to best articulate it, but for me personally, it doesn't feel right to have it in high school maths. I feel its best left for university mathematics.

I would recommend doing a search of actuarial studies on BOS and Google, and looking at the descriptions provided on the pages of universities which offer actuarial studies (e.g. UNSW, Macquarie). And then to come back and ask any specific questions you have.

I'm actually content that matrices didn't end up being what they're thinking of introducing. I think it's fine to introduce them in first year uni maths. Besides that, I agree with your post.

From first impressions, looks promising. But having enough qualified teachers who can teach the extension content well is another matter....

If this is ACTL, then don't worry, because like remember last sem how after MATH1151 results, everyone who failed MATH1151 had to drop out from ACTL1101, and hence spots opened up in pretty much all ACTL1101 tutorials. Same thing this semester - all the people who fail ACTL1101 will have to drop...
