I think it's actually quite a bit more challenging. In 2u you can just use formulas and apply it to a given question but in 3u you have to understand and figure out how to use certain formulas in certain situations.

My class used it this year and I feel like I have a deep understanding of the topics that are in the book due to how they explained the concepts.

I would assume Sydney Girls does better in the humanities and North Sydney doing better in the sciences.

An hour's travel is nothing unordinary for students who go a selective, and whether you go to NSG or Hornsby, you'll find people who take longer than you to get to school. In my opinion you should go to the school you want to go to. I doubt going to either of these school would impact your ATAR...
