I'm inclined to disagree with that. I know people from relatively lower ranked schools that continually motivate themselves to be the very best, despite a poorer cohort. I think a lot of it is related to our personal motivation. It just so happens that more academically motivated people exist...

I have a few photos but none of them are very good quality hah! Conceptually, I was really lucky to find something that interested me a lot. I think you need to find something you're passionate about and transform that into a concept. I recommend reading philosophical concepts or news articles...

I go by the rule 1 mark = 1 adequately explained technique that backs up my insight. As for the last question, it's about developing a really good insight into the texts and being about to link them together well. You also get better with practice so don't think just because you list 2...

With any context, its all about the key ideas that arise from that period of thinking, and how those ideas are reflected within your texts.

No...your internal marks are according to how your entire cohort performs, e.g. rank 10 gets the 10th highest HSC mark. There's also a chance you guys share the same rank as well, so you might end up getting the same "internal" assessment mark.

Always aim to integrate context within your essay whenever applicable because it shows interaction with ideas beyond the simplicity of your text. Go for "bigger" techniques, e.g. motif, allegory, etc because they add depth to your analysis Vocab is always a last priority - who cares if you know...

Avoid cliche expressions, try and employ the use of "bigger" techniques like allegory, motif, etc. You really need a strong idea with creative writing because even if your writing is bad, you still get awarded for strong ideas. Not sure how often the reverse happens though, because usually poor...
