Well an increase in cut off could be due to an increase in the course's demand or a decrease in the positions available, because of Univerisites being more selective in their choice. As said by 'Silver Persian' it is unreasonable to extrapolate a trend solely based on an increase in cut off...

I did study to an extent and definitely do not regret it. Prelim does in essence form the basis of HSC studies and so complete slacking of in year 11 would, in my opinion, not be too prudent.

It's all about your abilities and comfort with this subject. I doubt your family could be a good judge of that. If you believe you are coping fine with 4U, then keep it! What's your current rank in school and what's the school ranked?
