IMO the last of us was slightly better, but they're both pretty incredible.

Second year medical science units tend to scale down quite significantly, so you might want to take this into consideration if you're gunning for dat HD avg.

I haven't had any problems with the material so far considering we learnt practically all of the maths behind this stuff in vector calculus last semester, but I imagine it might be pretty hairy for first years. How are you finding it?

Yeah he's definitely one of the better lecturers I've had at Sydney (that being said, I think most of the people teaching second year adv. maths are pretty darn good).

Have you tried looking for international editions? They're essentially the same book printed on cheaper materials so that students in poorer countries can afford them: http://www.ebay.com/gds/International-Edition-Textbook/10000000009058832/g.html I bought most of my ~$150 dollar textbooks...
