    Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread

Yes and no. Double doses can help assist immune response to the disease yes and reduce hospitalization rates; but some viruses mutate at a faster rate than we are producing vaccines for, and there is already talk of new variants in South America; so the ability of vaccines to guarantee immunity...

    Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread

(0121235's argument) is not completely wrong, it is just over simplistic or a generalisation on the justification on taking the vaccine (not on the stats itself); because the decision to take the vaccine is not just weighing up the risk of death; there are other (whether justifiable) factors...

What is the new 2024 curriculum

They are not removing Commerce. For those wondering, those electives apply to school-developed course not board developed courses. Commerce is the latter: https://educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/portal/nesa/k-10/years/stage-5

What is the new 2024 curriculum

Its only for SDBECs that are affected. Mainly private schools that run like their own subjects e.g. religious classes will be affected. Interesting you can now major in secular humanism/atheism if you take all these new electives :P Expecting backlash from private schools though.

    Biden Leaving Afghanistan discussion

Even though a lot of people hated him, and he had his issues, Trump for some reason, was able to keep some other world leaders like China and North Korea in check.

    Biden Leaving Afghanistan discussion

There are a couple of factors that I think make the situation quite volatile. For a starters, I am of the opinion, that if the west wants to maintain any progress from a human rights perspective they will have to engage with the Taliban. Secondly, irrespective of the West's involvement now...

    complex roots multi

Very well put. One of the main motivations for defining the principal value Arg is to be able to write complex numbers in modulus-argument form. Hence for any complex number z, {\displaystyle z=\left|z\right|e^{i\operatorname {Arg} z}.} So by definition when using Euler's rule or De Moivre's...

    complex roots multi

After line 2 you could argue that you need to change need to convert e^{\frac{3i\pi}{2}} to be in the range (-\pi, \pi] aka e^{\frac{-i \pi}{2}} So that when you take the squareroot, the result is in the principal argument range (-\frac{\pi}{2}, \frac{\pi}{2}] to ensure that the real value...

    complex roots multi

Trebla is absolutely correct. The issue has to with symbols. The actual square root sign/symbol \sqrt{\quad} by definition means generally means take the positive root (or strictly the principal root). It is only justified to take both roots if the values were originally squared. Difference...

They wont cancel. They might do something similar to NAPLAN, where you have to install particular software on your device with a webcam to ensure you are not cheating.
