    Ex-students & teachers

I personally have not added any teachers (why would I want to eww LOL), however, some of my friends have added a few and the teachers have accepted. I'm pretty sure there's no rule against it, it just sounds absurd to me.

HSC ranks question. please help :)

On my report it says i finished 5th in chemistry, however on the BOS it says im 3rd in chemistry. I don't know what's going on but I had a chat to the guy coming 6th in chemistry and his also 3rd on the BOS. I also got knocked back from 7th to 8th for business studies. Strangely, on my report it...

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

Oh... uh oh. I said to reflux and user a condenser so the products and reactants aren't lost - these can be toxic and to perform it in a fume cupboard. do you think i'd still get the mark? how many marks was that question worth?

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

Yeah I know, I'd get 300mg just like one who put 1sf. Sigh, if its 4sigfig then :(

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

It could be 1 or 2. I thought 1 was so small though.

    Industrial Chemistry.

Err i just found my paper. And all they gave us was that at Q phenolphthalein turned pink meaning H2 gas is present. In the Syllabus it doesn't really ask you for the products of very dilute NaCl electrolysis, so I think P is probs Cl2 gas.

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

I did mine to 2sf because I thought 10mL was 2sf sigh. Nuuuuuuuu.

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

I dunno. I wrote "conc H2SO4 and reflux" on my arrows

    Industrial Chemistry.

I put the process was the electrolysis of brine o-o And idk about the electrodes.. I didn't see which terminal was which at the time (careless me) was the electrode on the left chlorine and the electrode on the right was hydrogen? I forgot which electrode was which letter.

    Multiple Choice

Because you can see from the graph, the err... dotted line with a negative gradient decreases about 2x as much in conc in comparison to the solid line. Thus we can assume that the dotted line is H2 (given the equation). So H2 was added.

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

Ahh sweet (: yeah using 2 titres seems a bit too little. I also made a typo in my post lolol i was meant to say "i didn't think the rough titre was that different from the other two titres".

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

I wrote to aid the blending of the aspirin and water or something like that o_o I read earlier in this thread that we had to discard the first/rough titre? Is this true? I didn't... I though it wasn't that different from the other two results so i used all 3 and got 0.1mol/L NaOH :( My final ans...

What did you guys get for the aspirin question btw?

    General Thoughts: Chemistry

Oh my gosh, the nitrates and phosphates question.. my heart sunk when I saw it. I was completely clueless and I wrote about AAS LOL (i know that sounds super wrong as it only works for cations). Do you think I will get at least 1 mark for writing that it has to be monitored as nitrates and...

What did people get for the mercury question?

    I put like 0.228mg/L

    Multiple Choice

Far out, by the looks of it i only got 18/20 for MC I totally misread the question about the equip needed to make a primary standard solution and put the ans with 'pipette, burette and conical flask' and misunderstood the degree of ionisation when adding H2O to CH3COOH <_< I put it would...

    Raw marks required for Bands

My tutor said some markers take off a mark if you draw "OH", apparently you should show ALL bonding "O-H" -___-
  18. R

Predictions for 6/7 marker questions this year?

They can actually.. if you take a look in the course outcomes - I think the practical component. It says we have to know a current practising Australian scientist. although its never been asked before in my memory, it can be popped up lol id love to see the look on everyones faces.. luckily my...

    Forgot to sign blue form

During our first test ever (English paper 1) I thought that it was non compulsory to sign it lolol. I think it should be okay though, just wondering why your supervisor didn't check it before they signed.
