Most likely reason why is that you must have completed and passed Micro(ECON1101) before you can do ECON1102. If you have done ECON1101 or a similar course at a different uni, you must have it approved by UNSW first.

Yes you can but i wouldn't recommend dropping in engineering if your maths/physics isn't up to scratch.

To major in finance u must complete 8 finance courses or 48 Units with of Finance units including FINS1613 (from flexible) + FINS1612 (which you are asking). I don't major in finance but from memory you must complete all the cores (1616, 1612, 2624 and International Finance - can't remember code...

Have no idea what you're talking about but you will need to have completed the compulsory core courses + flexible cores by the end of your degree. FINS1612 is one of the subjects you need to do in order to major in finance.

Yes, providing those 4 courses are taught in semester 2. However your degree is more focused on the science part rather than the commerce. Just putting it out there, in case you do more commerce electives than you have to in the future.

But as you're a first year. I do think it's better for you to follow the "preferred" program structure stated on the guideline. It could be "preferred" for reasons such as some science electives not being offered in every semester.

You can take any electives. You don't need to follow the pathway suggested. If you're worried, you can drop a few commerce subjects and pick up some science ones. Essentially, it does not matter because at the end of the day you will need to complete science courses in the future anyways. Chill

I don't think the extra work in MATH1141 is worth it. 1131 and 1141 is essentially the same thing except 1141 has a final harder exam. All assessments prior to the finals, both 1131 and 1141 students do the exact same thing. And nothing is easy in uni to HD unless you put in hard work. However...

It is quite a walk. I think it'll take 10 minutes to walk from mathews to law (depending on how fast you walk..or run?). If you're worried about this, you can always leave a lecture early.

1131 and 1141 students learn the same topics. Except that 1141 students has a harder final exam.

Yes you can change anytime. Really is not a big issue since all first year engineering do the same subjects.

Yes you don't have to do it. But most if not all first years do those 4 subjects in the first semester. I recommend you doing it. And yes you can change your timetable around assuming that tutorial/lecture slots are still vacant.

You can pick up commerce electives anytime. Most of the courses, if not all are offered throughout both semesters and even summer school. You won't fall behind if you stick to the correct pathway indicated here

They would only take your WAM. The only compulsory electives you would take if you were to do commerce are acct1501, econ1101, mgmt1001 and econ1203. Note: these courses can also be taken as a gen ed or free elective.
