  1. Extension 2 Maths help

I’ve been doing other schools’ trials mainly. If I run out of those I will probably go through past HSC exams and do the relevant questions.
  2. Exam structure

10 mcq and q11-16 are 15 marks each. Each question will be answered in a separate booklet.
  3. English Advance - Eliot

I think it's best to be prepared to write about any of them. It wouldn't be good if they asked you to write about a poem you didn't prepare very well for.
  4. Bio HSC 2020 exam predictions

    Sensory organs
  5. ATAR estimate

In that case you might be able to get 90 if your externals are good.
  6. ATAR estimate

You could definitely get 80 if you did well in externals. The trouble is that lower ranked schools tend to set easy exams, unless you did the independent or the CSSA papers in which case your trial marks might be reasonable indicators of how you will go in the HSC.
  7. Format of math exams

Is it not the same for you?
  8. Format of math exams

  9. What is a good raw mark for ext 1 and 2?

Hard to say. I've heard very mixed opinions on the difficulty of the new syllabuses; some saying they're easier because of how much has 'moved up' (like types of induction being 4u only, stats that used to be standard/general now in advanced) but others say that the new proof topic means very...
  10. What is a good raw mark for ext 1 and 2?

Typically mid to high 80s for 3u and mid 80s for 4u but with this year being the first year of the new syllabus, alignment might be slightly different.
  11. Format of math exams

Extension 1 and 2 are staying the same (question booklet seperate to answer booklet), but advanced will now be in the same format as the general/standard papers where you write in the one booklet and the questions are not 11-16, 15 marks each
  12. How much can ATAR be improved after internal assessments (including Trials)?

Without knowing exactly who OP is, their school rank is a good indicator of the strength of their cohort and hence the meaning of their ranks. For example, someone who is 20/50 at a top 5 school is very likely to get a better HSC mark than someone who is 20/50 at a school ranked 500th because of...
  13. how many hours of study

    What texts are you doing?
  14. how many hours of study

After I finished writing my notes and summaries I did questions from textbooks mainly as there weren't many trial papers I had access to. The best thing to do at this stage is trial papers under exam conditions i.e. no access to your notes. As long as you know the content and can apply it well...
  15. how many hours of study

I think they're talking about the essays in the 'HSC Exam Workbook'. Basically it has student responses from the 2019 HSC for all of the questions (papers 1 and 2) and some marker's comments regarding why they were good responses.
  16. how many hours of study

Old HSC papers are definitely helpful because of the significant overlap between the old and new syllabuses. If you look at the sample papers published by nesa, most of the questions came from past HSCs, except for the questions from new topics
  17. 2020 Maths HSC Exams

Is there any reason why extension 2 and advanced are now held in different sessions? Wouldn't this allow 4u students to sit the 2u paper?
  18. Am I still able to get a decent ATAR at this point?

What rank does your school usually get? Even people towards the bottom of their cohorts do reasonably well at higher ranking schools. https: //www.sydneyboyshigh.com/publications/document-library/doc_view/7845-atar-breakdown-2001-2019
  19. Periodic Table

For year 10 science I don't think you need to memorise anything unless it is specified by your teacher as they are likely to give you one in an exam. In the HSC you are given a reference sheet that contains the periodic table, so there's no need to memorise all 118 elements and their relative...
  20. ATAR estimates

Are you able to provide me with an ATAR estimate? School is usually ranked around 40-50 Subject Assessment Rank Trial Mark Avg B6s (2016-2019) English Advanced 17/154 84/100 29 Mathematics Extension 1 5/92 70/70 23 Mathematics Extension 2 3/29 90/100 8 Chemistry 4/79 96/100 19...
