Does anyone know any related texts to Why Weren't We Told by Henry Reynolds.

anything with politics is good, you could do Animal Farm by George Orwell, quick and easy read but heaps of politics.

Prelim HSC - English Standard Assessment Task Help!!!!

I think you should look to the resources tab of this website and find a Journey's creative writing piece it should be around 2006-9? and give it a nice read to find out how to write about journey's creatively. Other than that, if you need ideas to start maybe try and talk about your journey...

    Got recommended standard english

    1. Ask them seriously, although they most likely won't bother to tell you how to improve they want to just see if you will improve if they throw you in to advanced. 2. Yes, although you'll probably end up doing the same amount of work as an adv english student to get an equivalent or better...

    Trial marks vs hsc

My school decided to do CSSA for Legal Studies and Economics and if I recall correctly for humanities there wasn't much difference between my Trial and HSC mark. For Legal I scored around the ~95 and Economics ~88 for Trials and it was pretty much the same in the HSC.

    11 units?

It definitely can be used as a backup unit but for perspective I did 11 units aswell and the balance was whether my economics would count completely or whether my extension english would count as 1 unit. Even though I got 44/50 for ext 1. my economics counted for the full 2 units where I got...

If You Could Redo the HSC

probably do better in economics, took it way too easy the first Year 12 exam and they decided to make that weigh 25%.

    Rewrite Question in Exam??

This actually happened to me in Year 10, they call it a transcription error, I was awarded full marks since it was a 2 marker but I guess that's iffy if you are doing a question worth more. I guess that's why I always wrote the question down everytime I solved a maths quesiton :D

    Rewrite Question in Exam??

I find that writing out the question (the algebra) really helps me from not looking at the booklet as I'm solving it. Honestly it's up to your method of solving but usually you won't get marked down for not writing the question UNLESS it forms part of your working out.

    Prepared ESSAY

on top of these great comments I suggest you don't fall in the trap of just writing your pre-prepared essay. Definitely practice molding your essay to fit many questions. I'd go about memorising an essay first then trying to use your essay to answer new essay questions on the same topic.

Do trials get sent to the marking center to be marked?

most likely not, Your papers are marked internally and if the teachers can't be bothered to do it they might hire an external marker to come and do that. If your extremely worried about your student number, I'd talk to your teacher ASAP and find out the arrangement so they can sort this...

    Someone help please !!!!!!

You could potentially drop your society and culture but you'd be required to do a full prelim course and hsc course for another subject in a year which is extremely challenging. (also most schools won't allow this) I recommend that you relax and rethink your approach to this subject, I felt...

    English Extension 1

For your HSC 2 units of english are compulsory. That means even if you do 12 units, out of those 12, 2 units from English HAVE to count. so seeing as though I did 11 units, 3 of them being English, only my Advanced English marks counted and the rest of my subjects performed better than my...

    14 units?

Are you planning on doing 4U maths in year 11? If so, I'd rest easy knowing that 4 units of your HSC is going to be maths and try your heart out for them, that honestly leaves you with technically three 2-unit subjects you should worry about in year 12, I don't think you should overload on...

    Feeling bad about marks?

This happened for me at the start of Year 12, I came first or second in ext 1 maths in preliminaries scoring 99-100% in most of the exams. In year 12 I went into it a little too confident and I got around 75% and that ranked me 30/40 people, I was so embarrassed and I didn't go to school for a...

Taking up extra-circulars in Year 11

I don't think it should if you manage your time well, doing extra-curriculars actually act as a great way for letting your mind experience new things and will hopefully keep you more excited and motivated to tackle your school work. You'll find that this also is a great way of making the most of...

    English Extension 1

The HSC only counts your best 2 english units and I did 11 so unfortunately my economics took precedent over my extension English :P. Although I loved the subject nonetheless, taught me a lot of things I could apply to adv. english!

    Representing People and Politics Speech

Well Wag the Dog explores the hypocrisy of the government in believing that they could fool the public... this obviously didn't work out well at all as internally you were presenting with characters that challenged the big lie. If you looking at that statement you'd probably end up showing how...

    Critics

I did speeches for my Mod B, but I have instructed a majority of my students to focus on their core text heavily and only incorporate critics if it suits nicely with their argument. Otherwise, I agree that it is difficult to include but by including it skillfully you might end up with a stronger...

    Having trouble choosing texts, advice?

Module A doesn't need any extra texts? Only AOS and ModC need extra texts. If this is for an in-class task... I may be answering too late. :jawdrop:

Need help with Pride and Prejudice and Letters to Alice question

Letters to Alice is basically a guide to reading Pride and Prejudice so I'd say yes it does both offer new insights and affirm. The new insights are from Weldon showing us how Austen criticised her time by creating a character that departed from the status quo of women, marriage and so on. The...
